**Patna, Bihar –** Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reaffirmed his commitment to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Sunday, assuring Union Home Minister Amit Shah that he would not again break ties with the BJP. The statement comes just months before crucial state assembly elections.
The assurance was made during a joint foundation stone laying ceremony for several development projects in Patna, attended by both Mr. Kumar and Mr. Shah. Mr. Shah, seen as the BJP’s key strategist, delivered a rousing speech to party workers on Saturday, expressing confidence in an NDA victory in Bihar.
Mr. Kumar, while acknowledging past disagreements and splits with the BJP in 2014 and 2022, attributed those decisions to internal party pressures. He explicitly stated that these mistakes would not be repeated. The event saw a large BJP presence, evident in the enthusiastic chants of “Jai Shri Ram,” which Mr. Kumar acknowledged.
The Chief Minister contrasted the current NDA government’s achievements in healthcare and education with previous administrations, highlighting the progress made since the JD(U)-BJP alliance came to power in 2005. Mr. Shah, visibly cordial towards Mr. Kumar throughout the event, is scheduled to conclude his two-day visit with a meeting at Mr. Kumar’s residence, involving other NDA constituents. The strong show of unity suggests a concerted effort by the NDA to secure a victory in the upcoming elections.
