**NEW DELHI, March 30, 2025** – India has launched a large-scale relief operation, codenamed “Operation Brahma,” to assist Myanmar following a devastating earthquake that struck on March 29, 2025. The operation involves the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, delivering personnel and vital supplies to the affected areas.

The first contingent of 10 Indian Army personnel arrived in Mandalay, Myanmar, on Sunday evening to begin establishing a 118-person field hospital. The main body of the team, along with heavy equipment, is expected to arrive by road on Monday. Two Indian Navy ships, *Satpura* and *Savitri*, carrying relief materials, sailed from Visakhapatnam on Saturday, followed by two more ships, *Karmuk* and *LCU 52*, departing from the Andaman and Nicobar Command on Sunday. A total of approximately 52 tonnes of relief materials, including clothing, water, food, medicine, and emergency supplies, have been dispatched.

Prior to the arrival of the field hospital team, a reconnaissance party reached Mandalay on Sunday morning. The Indian Air Force has already airlifted 96.3 tonnes of supplies and 198 personnel (Army Medical Corps and National Disaster Relief Force) using five transport aircraft.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Myanmar’s Senior General Aung Min Hlaing, assuring him of India’s continued humanitarian assistance. The death toll continues to rise in Myanmar, and relief efforts are urgently needed. The operation underscores India’s commitment to regional cooperation and disaster response.
