NEW YORK – Social media platform X experienced a brief outage on Friday afternoon, affecting tens of thousands of users across the United States. Outage tracking website Downdetector.com reported over 53,000 incident reports peaking around 2:46 p.m. EDT before service was restored approximately 3:10 p.m. EDT. While Downdetector’s figures are based on user reports and the actual number of affected users may differ, the disruption highlights ongoing instability for the Elon Musk-owned platform. This follows outages affecting both X and Reddit on Thursday. X has not yet commented on the cause of Friday’s outage. In a previous incident in March, Musk attributed an outage to a cyberattack.
