**CHENNAI, March 30, 2025** – Manasa Publications, a Chennai-based publishing house focused on women’s literature, has announced the launch of the “Manasa Lit Prize,” a new competition for unpublished women writers in India. The prize offers a significant opportunity for emerging female voices, with two categories – young adults (16-25) and adults (26+), each receiving a ₹100,000 cash prize and publication.
The competition is open to Indian women authors with original, unpublished works of fiction in English, ranging from 40,000 to 80,000 words. Up to five manuscripts from each category will be selected for publication by Manasa Publications, but the final decision rests solely with the publisher. Authors with previously published books are ineligible to participate, and co-authored works will not be accepted. Submissions must be sent to connect@manasapublications.com by August 31, 2025.
According to Chaidhanya and Kirupalakshmi, founders of Manasa Publications, the prize aims to nurture and amplify women-centric literary works and bridge cultures through translation.
