Sat Mar 29 20:08:35 UTC 2025: ## Delhi High Court Demands Transparency on Blood Bank Regulation
**New Delhi, March 30, 2025** – The Delhi High Court has directed the central and Delhi governments to reveal the regulatory mechanisms governing blood banks in the city. This order follows a petition highlighting the inconvenience caused by limited blood donation hours at many facilities, including major hospitals like Safdarjung and AIIMS.
The petitioner, Advocate Vishal Arun Mishra, argued that while blood banks may operate 24/7, blood donation services often restrict hours to weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. or 6 p.m., creating difficulties for donors and potentially jeopardizing patient care. The petition cited an RTI response indicating that emergency provisions exist outside of these hours, but these are inadequate. The court has scheduled a further hearing on July 9th to review the government’s response regarding blood bank regulations.
