Sun Mar 30 03:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Nick Frost in Talks to Play Hagrid in HBO’s “Harry Potter” Series

**Los Angeles, CA** – HBO’s highly anticipated “Harry Potter” series is adding another major name to its cast. According to Deadline, British actor-comedian Nick Frost is in final negotiations to play the beloved half-giant Rubeus Hagrid. This follows the previously reported casting of John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.

While HBO remains officially silent, speculation surrounding Frost’s casting began last week online, fueled by a cryptic Instagram post from the actor and his recent social media activity. Hagrid, Hogwarts’ kind gamekeeper and later Care of Magical Creatures professor, was famously portrayed by Robbie Coltrane in the film franchise.

The series, slated to run for over a decade, is being produced by writer-showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director/executive producer Mark Mylod. HBO has described the project as a “faithful adaptation” of J.K. Rowling’s novels.

Frost is known for his collaborations with Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) and his role in AMC’s “Into the Badlands.” He will next be seen in the live-action “How to Train Your Dragon” remake.
