Sat Mar 29 22:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Guntur’s Nallapadu Lake Set for ₹10-12 Crore Revitalization

**Guntur, March 30, 2025** – The Nallapadu Lake in Guntur is slated for a significant revitalization project, with an investment of ₹10-12 crore. Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, announced the initiative following an inspection of the 93-acre lake on Saturday.

The project, which addresses decades of neglect, will focus on desilting the lake – a process not undertaken for 30-40 years, according to the Minister. The funds will be allocated through a contract-based desilting initiative.

Beyond desilting, the revitalization plan includes the construction of a walking track and playground, as well as improvements to increase water storage capacity. These improvements aim to alleviate local drainage problems and address encroachments on the lake’s land.

Prathipadu MLA Burla Ramanjaneyulu emphasized the ongoing infrastructure development in the merged villages of the Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC), highlighting roads, drainage, and drinking water improvements. He confirmed that lake development is the next phase, assuring that the livelihoods of Dalit farmers currently cultivating approximately 4.5 acres within the lake area will be protected through a prior survey.

Guntur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu confirmed that a comprehensive survey of the lake will be conducted to assess encroachments and ensure the project enhances groundwater levels in the surrounding area. He has instructed town planning officials to prepare a report on existing encroachments.
