Sun Mar 30 14:51:30 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Forms High-Powered Committee to Oversee New Medical College Approvals

**Vijayawada, March 30, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh government has established a four-member High Power Committee (HPC) to review applications and recommend the establishment of new medical, dental, and nursing colleges in the state. Former High Court Judge Justice Upmaka Durga Prasada Rao will chair the committee, whose appointment was approved by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

The HPC also includes Vemuru Sudhakar Prasad, a renowned plastic and micro-vascular surgeon; N.S.B. Parimala, head of the Anatomy department at NRI Medical College; and Raghu Boddepalli, a dentist from Visakhapatnam.

The committee’s responsibilities include reviewing applications, inspecting infrastructure, and recommending the issuance of Essentiality Certificates (EC) to the government for eligible colleges. The HPC will serve a three-year term.
