**LOS ANGELES, CA** – Director Ryan Coogler has confirmed long-standing rumors that he is actively pursuing Denzel Washington for a role in the upcoming “Black Panther 3.” Speaking on the Nightcap podcast, Coogler expressed his eagerness to collaborate with the legendary actor, stating, “I’ve been dying to work with Denzel… As long as he’s interested, man, it’s going to happen.” Coogler also revealed that production on the sequel is expected to begin soon, stating it won’t be “long” before filming commences.
Washington himself previously hinted at his involvement in an interview with Australia’s “Today” show, a revelation he later apologized for to Coogler. Despite the premature announcement, Washington expressed his continued interest in the project, stating he will read whatever script Coogler produces.
While Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce “Black Panther 3,” the immense success of the first two films, which grossed over $2 billion globally, strongly suggests a third installment is in the works. The studio has currently only publicly scheduled “Avengers” sequels and “Spider-Man 4” beyond 2025.
Coogler’s comments come as he prepares for the release of his R-rated thriller “Sinners,” starring Michael B. Jordan, on April 18th.
