Sun Mar 30 01:50:00 UTC 2025: ## UConn Star Paige Bueckers Confirms Entry into 2025 WNBA Draft

**SPOKANE, Wash. —** University of Connecticut star guard Paige Bueckers has confirmed she will enter the 2025 WNBA draft, ending speculation about her future plans. Bueckers made the announcement to ESPN analyst Rebecca Lobo following UConn’s NCAA Tournament victory over South Dakota State on Friday.

While projected as the top overall pick, rumors had circulated that Bueckers was hesitant to join the Dallas Wings, holders of the No. 1 pick. Previous reports suggested a preference for the Los Angeles Sparks, though that team subsequently traded their second overall pick. This fueled speculation that Bueckers might return to college, join the Unrivaled League, or even wait until after a new WNBA collective bargaining agreement was finalized before entering the draft.

However, Bueckers has consistently indicated her intention to turn professional after this season, a plan she reiterated Friday. The highly touted guard is having a stellar senior season, averaging 19.2 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 54.2% from the field. Bueckers and the Huskies continue their NCAA Tournament run, facing Oklahoma in the Sweet 16 on Saturday.
