**Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh:** A 51-year-old Indian Air Force civil engineer, SN Mishra, was shot dead at his official residence in Prayagraj’s cantonment area on Saturday morning. Police say an unknown assailant fired through a window while Mishra was asleep in his room at the Engineers Colony within the Air Force Station.
Mishra sustained a chest wound and was rushed to a nearby Army hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Abhishek Bharti, police are reviewing CCTV footage from the Air Force Station, which reportedly shows a person scaling the boundary wall and entering the premises. Investigation teams are working to identify and apprehend the suspect.
Police have launched an investigation and will file a case after receiving a formal complaint from Mishra’s family. He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
