Fri Mar 28 18:50:00 UTC 2025: ## X Platform Experiences Widespread Outage

**New York, NY** – X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, experienced a significant outage on Thursday afternoon, impacting thousands of users. According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, over 53,000 complaints were logged by 2:46 p.m. ET, with the majority reporting issues accessing the app and website. Users attempting to view posts were met with an error message reading, “Something went wrong. Try reloading.”

The outage, which appeared to be widespread, lasted less than half an hour. While X has not yet issued an official statement regarding the cause, the incident follows a pattern of recent service disruptions. Previous outages, including one in March that Elon Musk attributed to a cyberattack, and a major incident in August 2024, have raised concerns about the platform’s reliability since Musk’s acquisition and subsequent restructuring. The company’s history since the October 2022 acquisition also includes incidents such as feature impairments and the crashing of a live audio event earlier this year.

This latest outage underscores ongoing challenges facing the platform following Musk’s takeover, which included significant staff reductions. The rebranding to X and the shift away from the Twitter.com domain in May 2024 have not resolved the platform’s persistent technical instability.
