Sat Mar 29 15:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Wrexham’s Financial Success Despite Losses: Promotion Fuels Spending
**Wrexham, Wales** – Despite reporting a £2.729 million loss in their latest financial accounts, Wrexham AFC are in a robust financial position, fueled by record-breaking revenue and Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ continued investment. The club, currently on the brink of historic promotion to the Championship, saw a significant decrease in losses compared to the £5.113 million reported in 2023.
The club’s £27 million turnover marked a significant milestone, highlighting the impact of the owners’ investment and the club’s growing popularity. Much of the recent loss, however, is attributed to the costs associated with achieving promotion to League One, according to journalist Rich Fay of the Rob.Ryan.Red podcast. Fay clarified that approximately £800,000 of the loss stemmed from promotion-related bonuses and expenses.
Addressing online speculation surrounding wage expenditure, the club clarified that the £11 million figure encompasses all staff salaries, not just players.
Looking ahead, a potential promotion to the Championship this season would significantly increase Wrexham’s spending power. While losses are expected to rise in the Championship, the club would operate under the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), allowing losses of up to £41 million over a three-year period. With current losses under £3 million, Wrexham would have significant financial leeway for player acquisitions in the summer transfer window. The club remains optimistic about its future, despite the reported losses, and is well-positioned for success in the next level of competition.
