Fri Mar 28 17:58:46 UTC 2025: ## Thiruvananthapuram Traders Refuse to Relocate to New Market Due to Sanitation Concerns
**THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, March 29, 2025** – Traders in Thiruvananthapuram have refused to move to a new temporary market complex, citing unsanitary conditions at the proposed location. S.S. Manoj, State president of the Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi and national secretary of the Confederation of All India Traders, stated that the traders will remain at the Connemara Market in Palayam until accumulated waste is cleared.
The Corporation issued a notice ordering the relocation of all traders to the new complex by March 31st. While traders support the renovation of Palayam market, they object to the new building’s poor ventilation and proximity to large waste tanks containing fish, meat, and vegetable waste from the market and nine surrounding wards.
Manoj also expressed concern over the Corporation’s waste disposal methods, demanding clarification on the Haritha Karma Sena’s waste segregation efforts. The traders will disregard the relocation order until significant improvements are made to the sanitation of the new complex.
