Fri Mar 28 22:30:00 UTC 2025: **Rays Place McClanahan and Palacios on Injured List; Call Up Bigge and Misner**
ST. PETERSBURG, FL – The Tampa Bay Rays announced today that starting pitcher Shane McClanahan and utility player Richie Palacios have been placed on the injured list, retroactive to March 24th. McClanahan is dealing with a nerve issue in his left triceps, while Palacios suffered a fracture in his right ring finger.
The moves open roster spots, filled by the call-up of right-handed pitcher Hunter Bigge and outfielder Kameron Misner from Triple-A. Both will be on the Opening Day roster.
McClanahan’s injury, first reported earlier this week, will delay his return to the major leagues following Tommy John surgery. No timetable has been given for his recovery. Palacios’ finger fracture, initially described as minor, will sideline him for at least a week into the season. Misner, a left-handed hitter, is expected to fill some of Palacios’ offensive responsibilities.
The Rays also provided an update on catcher Danny Jansen, who is recovering from a pulled rib muscle. His availability for Opening Day will depend on the results of a simulated game. If he’s unable to participate fully, he may also be placed on the injured list, opening a spot for Kenny Piper, who would make his MLB debut.
