**Bangkok, Thailand –** A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck near Mandalay, Myanmar on March 28, 2025, causing widespread damage and loss of life in both Myanmar and neighboring Thailand. The quake, which hit at a depth of 10km, has claimed at least 144 lives in Myanmar and left over 730 injured, with the death toll expected to rise.

The Myanmar military government also acknowledged a rising death toll. India has already dispatched 15 tonnes of relief supplies to earthquake-stricken Myanmar.
