Sat Mar 29 09:30:00 UTC 2025: ## AI Brewmaster: NEC and Koeido Beer Develop Craft Beer Using AI Agent

**Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture** – NEC Corporation and Kyodo Shoji Co., Ltd., the maker of Koeido Beer, announced today the development of four new craft beers using an AI agent capable of autonomous work without specific instructions. This marks the first instance of a domestically developed AI agent being used for product development in Japan.

The AI agent, based on NEC’s generative AI “cotomi,” analyzed the characteristics and values of different Japanese age groups (20s-50s) to create unique beer recipes for each. For example, a beer targeting the 20-something demographic features pink grapefruit and peach flavors with a creamy texture and subtle sweetness, reflecting their urban lifestyle and emphasis on quality.

The AI significantly reduced recipe creation time by 40% compared to traditional methods. Brewers provided initial prompts, such as “create a new craft beer recipe for young Japanese adults,” and the AI agent autonomously researched, generated recipes, and refined them based on feedback. The AI’s strength lies in its ability to produce high-quality output with minimal instructions, simplifying the process for human brewers.

The four beers will be sold as a four-pack set for ¥1980 on Koeido Beer’s online store starting April, with shipments beginning June 5th. This collaboration showcases the potential of AI in streamlining product development and creating tailored products for specific consumer segments.
