**Mysore, Karnataka, March 29, 2025** – The Mysuru Zilla Panchayat has exceeded its employment targets under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) scheme for the 2024-25 fiscal year. The district achieved 24,43,834 man-days, surpassing the target of 24 lakh man-days by 1.83%. This success is attributed to the performance of six out of nine taluks, which exceeded their individual targets.

K.R. Nagar taluk recorded the highest achievement at 119.59%, followed by T Narsipura (112.69%), Saragur (110.34%), Saligrama (103.90%), and H.D. Kote (103.60%). However, Mysuru, Hunsur, and Nanjangud taluks fell short of their targets, achieving 78.32%, 91.96%, and 95.47% respectively.

The MNREGA scheme provided employment opportunities across various sectors, including groundwater conservation, afforestation, school development, and infrastructure projects such as Sanjeevini Sheds and Anganwadi building construction. A total of 3,38,973 job cards were issued, with 1,46,368 families holding active cards. 2,77,379 beneficiaries availed of the scheme.

In related news, the Union Ministry for Rural Development announced an increase in daily wages under MNREGA in Karnataka from ₹349 to ₹370, effective April 1, 2025. Additionally, an integrated helpline (82775-06000) has been launched to address queries and grievances related to MNREGA and other rural development schemes.
