**Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, March 29, 2025** – The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Jabalpur has successfully dismantled an inter-state gang involved in online betting on Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches. Five individuals have been arrested in Delhi, Narsinghpur, and Jabalpur following an investigation triggered by a complaint alleging fraud.
The complainant reported being tricked into providing his Aadhaar and PAN cards to open a bank account ostensibly for government welfare aid. This led authorities to uncover a sophisticated operation involving at least 40 bank accounts used to deposit funds generated from illegal IPL betting and gaming. Transactions ranged from ₹10,000 to ₹1 lakh.
Police Inspector Balram Yadav revealed that the arrests include Shubham Lodhi and Shubham Sharma from Narsinghpur, Sanjeev Arora from Delhi, and Rishi Kapoor and Lakhan Thakur from Jabalpur. Seized evidence includes ATM cards and SIM cards linked to the implicated bank accounts. The accused have been charged under sections 318 (4) (cheating) and 61 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for criminal conspiracy. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities searching for additional suspects.
