Sat Mar 29 15:05:39 UTC 2025: ## Madhya Pradesh Congress Accuses BJP of Mocking Unemployed Youth

**Bhopal, March 29, 2025** – The Congress party in Madhya Pradesh has accused the BJP-led state government of trivializing the plight of unemployed youth after Chief Minister Mohan Yadav referred to them as “Akankshi Yuva” (aspirational youth). This follows the release of updated unemployment figures showing 29,38,010 unemployed individuals in the state, a number listed on the state’s employment portal under the new designation.

Leader of the Opposition Umang Singhar criticized the renaming, stating on X that the government was mocking the unemployed by changing their label. He highlighted the government’s failure to provide jobs despite promises, arguing that the new term is a cynical attempt to downplay the unemployment crisis.

Chief Minister Yadav defended the change, asserting that government jobs cannot solve the unemployment problem entirely, given India’s vast population. He emphasized the state’s efforts to promote self-reliance and entrepreneurship among young people. A statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) further explained that the term does not imply that those engaged in other work are not unemployed, but rather highlights initiatives to create new employment opportunities.

However, Mr. Singhar countered that the government is using the term to mask its shortcomings, citing unfilled positions in various government departments over the past eight years as evidence of its failure. He urged the Chief Minister to stop misleading the youth.

A senior official from the CMO dismissed the Congress’s criticism, refusing to issue further clarifications and maintaining that the opposition was misinterpreting the Chief Minister’s intentions. The use of the term “aspirational youth” was also employed by the Minister of State for Skill Development and Employment during the recent state assembly budget session.
