**TIRUPATI, March 29, 2025** – The annual Brahmotsavams celebrations continued in Tirupati on Friday with a vibrant procession of Lord Kodandarama. The deity, mounted on a gold-gilded “Chinna Sesha Vahanam” (five-hooded serpent carrier), was paraded through the temple streets amidst chanting devotees. Snapana Tirumanjanam (celestial bath) rituals were also performed for Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, and Lord Lakshmana. Later in the evening, Lord Kodandarama was processed on a “Hamsa Vahanam” (swan carrier).
Several temples under the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) are preparing for Ugadi celebrations on March 30th. These include the Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple, Sri Padmavati temple, Sri Kalyana Venkateswara temple, and others. The Sri Kodandaramalayam temple in Vontimitta will also conduct “Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam” cleansing rituals on April 1st, ahead of its own Brahmotsavams (April 5th-15th). The temple’s walls will be treated with a special aromatic mixture (“Parimalam”).
Since the TTD took over the Sri Kodandaramalayam temple in 2015, the Srirama Navami Brahmotsavams and Sita Rama Kalyanam have been celebrated on a grand scale, with the latter designated a state festival.
