**Los Angeles, CA** – Nintendo and Sony Pictures have officially set a release date for their highly anticipated live-action adaptation of “The Legend of Zelda.” The adventure film will hit theaters on March 26, 2027, almost a year and a half after its initial announcement.

The news was revealed Friday via Nintendo’s new app, Nintendo Today. The project, co-produced and primarily financed by Nintendo, reunites series creator Shigeru Miyamoto with producer Avi Arad (“Spider-Man”). Wes Ball (“The Maze Runner,” “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes”) remains attached to direct and produce.

While casting and specific plot details are still under wraps, Miyamoto previously expressed his excitement about the project, noting the years of collaborative work with Arad. The success of the recent “Super Mario Bros. Movie” – a billion-dollar box office hit – likely fueled the momentum behind the Zelda adaptation. Fans will now have to wait until March 2027 to see Hyrule brought to life on the big screen.
