The deficit budget, presented by Agriculture Minister P. Prasad on Saturday, projects a revenue of ₹650.79 crore.
Key initiatives highlighted in the budget include:

The university also plans to develop water-saving irrigation systems for paddy cultivation and promote the use of nano-products for environmentally friendly pest control.

Research will focus on high-yielding crop varieties, hybrid vegetables resistant to harsh conditions, and improved tissue culture techniques for coconut seedlings.
* **Farmer Empowerment:** The budget allocates funds to ensure farmers have access to high-quality seeds, planting materials, and organic inputs at affordable prices. Initiatives promoting farmer participation in technology development and awareness programs are also planned, along with the development of farm tourism and improved incubation facilities.
* **Anti-drug Initiative:** A new program, ‘Sadgamaya,’ will be implemented as part of the university’s anti-drug efforts.
* **Commercial Ventures:** Nila Wine, produced at the university’s winery, is slated to hit the market next year. A promotional offer will see customers receiving a free bottle of wine with purchases exceeding ₹2,000 at KTDC beer-wine parlours.
* **Infrastructure Development:** The budget includes funding for the construction and renovation of hostels across various campuses and the establishment of a coconut museum in Balaramapuram.
The budget was approved at the university’s general council meeting, attended by key officials including the Vice-Chancellor, B. Ashok, and several ministers and MLAs.
