Sat Mar 29 16:00:00 UTC 2025: ## NorthEast United FC Face Jamshedpur FC in Crucial ISL Playoff Clash

**Shillong, March 29, 2025** – NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) and Jamshedpur FC will clash in a crucial Indian Super League (ISL) playoff match on Sunday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong. The winner will advance to the semifinals.

NEUFC, finishing fourth in the regular season with 38 points, boasts a four-game unbeaten streak against Jamshedpur (three wins, one draw), their longest against the Red Miners. This marks the first-ever playoff meeting between the two teams. The Highlanders’ strong defense, having recorded consecutive clean sheets, will be tested against a Jamshedpur side that has conceded three or more goals in each of its last two league games. However, NEUFC has a history of conceding in their previous playoff appearances.

Jamshedpur FC, also with 38 points but a lower goal difference, ended the season in fifth place. Their defensive vulnerabilities – having conceded 35 goals in open play, the second-most in the league – pose a significant challenge against NEUFC, the second-highest scoring team (46 goals). Jamshedpur coach Khalid Jamil seeks the club’s first-ever playoff victory, having lost and drawn in their previous playoff appearances.

NEUFC’s attacking prowess, particularly their high dribble success rate (50.3%), and the attacking threat of their Moroccan forward (four goals in two games against Jamshedpur) will be key factors.

Both coaches expressed confidence ahead of the match. NEUFC coach Juan Pedro Benali stressed the importance of converting chances and stopping Jamshedpur’s unique style of play, while Jamil praised the atmosphere in Shillong and expressed hope for a positive outcome. The historical record between the two teams shows a relatively even matchup, with six draws and four wins each.
