**TIRUNELVELI, March 29, 2025** – The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) staged protests across Tirunelveli district on Saturday, condemning the Union government’s alleged failure to release ₹4,000 crore allocated for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in Tamil Nadu.
Demonstrations, led by Palayamkottai MLA M. Abdul Wahab, took place at 31 locations, including Maanur West, Nanguneri, Krishnapuram, Keezhanaththam, and Sivanthipuram. The DMK is demanding the immediate release of the funds to ensure continued employment and wage payments under the scheme.
