**Washington, D.C. –** The National Park Service announced today that Washington, D.C.’s iconic cherry blossoms have reached peak bloom, marking the arrival of a spectacular springtime spectacle. The announcement, made Friday, follows days of anticipation as temperatures warmed and the Yoshino cherry trees reached the 70% bloom threshold.
Peak bloom typically occurs between late March and early April, and this year’s peak falls between March 28th and 31st. Visitors can expect the blossoms to remain in bloom for approximately 10 days, weather permitting.
The timing coincides with the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival, running from March 20th to April 13th. The festival features a variety of events, including a kite festival, a 5K run, and a parade.
FOX 5 DC will broadcast live from the Tidal Basin Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. to celebrate the peak bloom. The station encourages viewers to download the FOX LOCAL app for weather updates and ongoing coverage. The National Park Service invites everyone to enjoy this beautiful display of spring.
