Sat Mar 29 12:00:00 UTC 2025: **Chicago Area Faces Brief Severe Weather Risk, Followed by Warmth and Cool Down**

CHICAGO (October 26, 2025) – After a mostly dry Thursday, Chicago and surrounding areas are bracing for scattered showers and thunderstorms tonight into Friday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Marginal Risk for severe weather, specifically for LaSalle and far southwestern Grundy counties, where hail is possible. The strongest storms are expected between midnight and daybreak. These storms will quickly dissipate by mid-morning Friday, giving way to sunny skies and southwest winds gusting up to 40 mph. Temperatures will surge into the mid-to-upper 70s on Friday.

This summer-like warmth will be short-lived. Cooler temperatures and scattered showers return on Saturday, with highs in the upper 60s to near 70. Sunday will bring a higher chance of rain and possible thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from the lower 60s in Chicago to the 50s near Wisconsin and the 70s south of I-80.

A significant cool down is expected for Monday and Tuesday, with highs only in the lower 40s. Monday might see a mix of rain and snow showers in the morning before clearing. Rain is forecast to return by Wednesday.
