**Kannur, March 29, 2025** – A 480-page chargesheet was filed on Saturday at the Kannur Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in connection with the death of former Additional District Magistrate (ADM) K. Naveen Babu. The chargesheet, submitted by Town Police Inspector Sreejith Koderi, names former district panchayat president P.P. Divya as the sole accused in the abetment of suicide case.
The three-volume document includes statements from 97 witnesses. Police allege that Ms. Divya’s speech at Mr. Babu’s farewell meeting, which she allegedly attended uninvited with the intention of insulting him, drove him to suicide. The chargesheet claims Ms. Divya arranged for the speech to be recorded and subsequently circulated the footage herself.
However, investigators have reportedly found no suicide note or other direct evidence explicitly linking the death to a specific cause. The filing comes five months after Mr. Babu’s death.
