**NEW DELHI** – The nine-day Hindu festival of Chaitra Navratri, celebrating the divine feminine, will commence on March 30th, 2025, and conclude on April 6th, 2025, with Ram Navami. This marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year.
The auspicious Ghatasthapana (Kalash Sthapana), the ritual of establishing the Kalash (pot), falls on March 30th. Two auspicious time slots are available: 6:13 AM to 10:22 AM and 12:01 PM to 12:50 PM. The Kalash, which can be made of gold, silver, copper, brass, or clay, should be filled with water and adorned with a coconut and rice.
Ashtami (eighth day) will be observed on April 5th, 2025, and Navami (ninth day) – also known as Ram Navami – on April 6th, 2025. Devotees can observe a fast for the entire nine days or choose to fast only on specific days, such as the first and eighth days. Fruits and Kuttu (buckwheat) flour roti are permitted during the fast.
The festival is marked by prayers and offerings to the nine forms of the Goddess Durga. Details on the specific rituals for Ghatasthapana are provided in the original source.
