**Bengaluru, March 29, 2025** – Maverick and Farmer, a Bengaluru-based artisanal coffee brand, has launched a unique lion’s mane mushroom-infused coffee, marking a significant innovation in the burgeoning mushroom coffee market. Unlike existing Indian brands that use powdered extracts or instant blends, Maverick and Farmer’s coffee incorporates the mushroom extract during the roasting process using a patented technology developed in collaboration with Nuvedo, a Bengaluru-based mushroom extract producer.
This new method, currently patent-pending, ensures the coffee retains its bold, smooth Arabica taste while delivering the purported cognitive benefits of lion’s mane mushrooms. The process, which took a year of research and development, allows for a balanced flavor profile, avoiding the “mushroom-heavy” taste of many existing products.
Nuvedo employs advanced ultrasound technology to extract the lion’s mane compounds, a unique approach within India. The resulting coffee, available as whole beans to cater to discerning coffee drinkers, offers a medium-to-dark roast with chocolate and caramel notes. It boasts a lower acidity and caffeine content than regular coffee, promising a sustained energy boost.
Ashish D’abreo and Sreeram G, co-founders of Maverick and Farmer, emphasized their goal of creating a high-quality coffee with added health benefits. Jashid Hameed, co-founder of Nuvedo, highlighted their innovative extraction process. The coffee is priced at ₹1,700 for 200g and is available online and at Maverick & Farmer outlets nationwide.
