Sat Mar 29 13:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Nationwide Recall of Mislabeled Decaf Coffee
**Chicago, IL –** A recall is underway for bags of Our Family Traverse City Cherry Artificially Flavored Decaf Light Roast Ground Coffee after a portion of the product was mislabeled as decaffeinated. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the Class II recall, voluntarily issued by Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA on March 13th.
The recall affects 12-ounce bags with a “best buy” date of August 3, 2025, sold in 15 states: Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. The coffee was distributed by the SpartanNash Company from Grand Rapids, Michigan.
While the FDA classifies this as a Class II recall (meaning the risk of serious adverse health consequences is remote), consumers with sensitivities to caffeine, or those with underlying health conditions, should exercise caution. Decaffeinated coffee still contains small amounts of caffeine (typically 2-15 milligrams in an 8-ounce cup), and excessive caffeine intake can exacerbate conditions such as heart problems, diabetes, or osteoporosis. The FDA advises individuals with health concerns to monitor their caffeine consumption carefully.
The FDA has not yet specified instructions on what consumers should do with the recalled product. Further information can be found on the FDA website. The recalled product is identified by the following information: “Our Family Traverse City Cherry Artificially Flavored Decaf Light Roast Ground Coffee, Net WT 12 oz (340g), UPC 0 70253 11080 1.”
