Sat Mar 29 16:07:53 UTC 2025: ## Seven Arrested in Madurai Gangster Murder
**Madurai, March 29, 2025** – Seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of 37-year-old gangster P. Kaleeswaran in Madurai, police announced Saturday. Kaleeswaran, a member of a gang led by former Madurai Corporation zonal chairman V.K. Gurusamy, was hacked to death outside his home in Thanakkankulam.
Among those arrested are Vellaikali’s mother, S. Jayakodi (65), and several younger men. One suspect, S. Balakrishnan (26), sustained leg injuries while attempting to escape and is receiving treatment at Government Rajaji Hospital. Another suspect, Sullanpandi alias Pandi, who had been absconding for over three years, surrendered at the Madurai district court earlier. The Austinpatti police are continuing their investigation.
