**Peshawar, Pakistan – March 28, 2025** – Pakistani security forces have conducted a series of successful counter-terrorism operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, resulting in the deaths of at least 11 terrorists. According to a statement released late Thursday by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, four separate intelligence-based operations were carried out between March 26th and 27th in North Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan districts. Five terrorists were killed in Mir Ali, three in a subsequent operation in the same area, two more in Miran Shah, and one in Daraban. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the sites.
The ISPR emphasized that sanitization operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining terrorists. This follows last week’s reported killing of 16 terrorists attempting to cross the border from Afghanistan. The recent surge in terrorist activity, particularly targeting security forces and law enforcement, has been attributed to the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021.
According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), January 2025 saw a 42% increase in militant attacks compared to December 2024, with 74 attacks resulting in 91 fatalities and 117 injuries nationwide. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains the hardest-hit province. The ongoing operations reflect Pakistan’s commitment to combating terrorism within its borders.
