Sat Mar 29 08:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Egypt Announces Eid al-Fitr Holiday for 2025

**Cairo, Egypt** – The Egyptian Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, has officially declared a four-day paid holiday for Eid al-Fitr in 2025. The holiday will run from Saturday, March 29th, to Tuesday, April 1st, encompassing public sector employees, government agencies, and private sector companies.

Should the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon confirm Monday, March 31st, as the first day of Shawwal 1446 AH, the holiday will be extended to include Wednesday, April 2nd.

The decision aligns with Article 46 of the Civil Service Law, which grants paid leave for official holidays. Employees may be required to work during these holidays if necessary, with double pay or compensatory leave provided. The ruling also extends to religious holidays observed by non-Muslim employees.

The Ministry of Manpower has confirmed that the private sector will also observe the same four-day holiday (March 29th-April 1st). Article 48 of the Civil Service Law outlines annual leave entitlements, which are separate from public holidays. The law also provides for extended annual leave for disabled employees (45 days, plus potential extensions). Article 49 details the process for requesting annual leave, with provisions for deferral and compensation for unused leave.
