**Chennai, March 29, 2025** – A new mobile eye clinic, launched through a collaborative effort between Fourrts India, the Rotary Club of Adyar, and Radhatri Nethralaya, is making significant strides in combating childhood blindness in rural India. The initiative, known as ‘Project Vision on Wheels’, has already screened over one lakh babies in rural Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), a leading cause of blindness in premature infants.
Thanks to early detection and timely laser surgery facilitated by the mobile clinic, over 4,500 underprivileged infants have been saved from blindness. The project, operating under the Gurupriya Vision Research Foundation, provides vital eye care to underserved communities, highlighting the impact of accessible healthcare in preventing preventable blindness. A vehicle donated by Fourrts India and the Rotary Club of Adyar is integral to the project’s success, enabling the team to reach remote areas and provide crucial screenings.
