Fri Mar 28 03:59:50 UTC 2025: ## Father Arrested After 13-Year-Old Daughter Found Murdered in Abandoned Building

**Columbus, OH** – The body of 13-year-old Keimani Latigue was discovered inside a burned-out, abandoned building in Columbus, Ohio, a week after she went missing. Her father, 33-year-old Darnell Jones, has been arrested and charged with her murder and rape following a shootout with police.

Keimani, who would have turned 14 days before her body was found, was the victim of a brutal attack, according to Columbus Police Lieutenant Brian Steel. He described the case as “one of the most horrific” he’s ever encountered, noting that the victim suffered multiple incised wounds to the neck, and had her hands and throat nearly severed. An autopsy confirmed death by multiple incised wounds of the neck.

Jones, who appeared on local news pleading for information about his daughter’s disappearance just a day before his arrest, is now accused of her murder. Police became suspicious due to inconsistencies in his statements regarding Keimani’s whereabouts and their activities together. He was apprehended in Columbus after a confrontation with officers, during which he was armed with a gun.

The events leading to the discovery unfolded after Keimani, who had been staying with her grandmother, was last seen on March 16th. She reportedly called her father that night, saying she was scared because someone seemed to be trying to break into the house. Her mother, Tiara Kasten, saw Keimani on March 15th when Jones brought her to the house. Keimani’s grandmother, Dorothy Latigue, later found her home in disarray, with the teen’s underclothes and pajamas scattered throughout.

Keimani was an honor roll student at her elementary school and was set to receive a kindness award this week, according to a Toledo Public Schools spokesperson. The community is reeling from the tragic loss of the bright young girl. The investigation is ongoing.
