**Chennai, March 28, 2025** – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin asserted on Friday that the state’s focus on inclusive development, prioritizing social justice and women’s empowerment, has propelled it to the forefront of several key indicators. Addressing the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) South India Annual Convention 2025, he highlighted the state’s remarkable economic progress.

Mr. Stalin emphasized that the government’s initiatives have transformed cities like Coimbatore, Tiruchi, Hosur, Madurai, Salem, and Thoothukudi into significant economic hubs, driving equitable growth across Tamil Nadu. He cited the state’s leading role in India’s electronics exports, accounting for 37% of the national total, with $12.62 billion in exports over the past 11 months.

The Chief Minister also detailed key announcements from the 2025-26 budget aimed at bolstering the industrial sector. He underscored the long-standing collaboration between the Tamil Nadu government and CII, emphasizing their crucial role in the state’s development. He further highlighted Tamil Nadu’s position as India’s second-largest economy, boasting an 8% growth rate over the past three years, and the state’s ambitious goal of achieving a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

Looking ahead, Mr. Stalin announced the development of a third master plan for Chennai and master plans for 136 other urban areas to enhance the quality of life for residents. The convention, themed “Infra South: Crafting Livable Environment in India Cities,” was attended by Minister for Industries T.R.B. Raaja, senior government officials, and industrial leaders.
