**Vijayawada, March 28, 2025** – Andhra Pradesh is bracing for a resurgence of scorching temperatures, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting a significant rise over the next three days. The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued a severe heatwave (red) alert for 89 mandals on March 27th and 36 mandals on March 28th, primarily in Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR), and Parvathipuram Manyam districts.

Temperatures in Chintur and Kunavaram (ASR district) are predicted to reach 45 degrees Celsius, prompting a red alert. Kakinada and NTR districts also expect highs around 44 degrees Celsius, while Vijayawada anticipates temperatures near 43 degrees Celsius.

The IMD forecasts dry and hot weather for South Coastal Andhra Pradesh until April 3rd, with the exception of light rain expected on March 30th and 31st. Light to moderate rain is possible in one or two locations in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh between March 30th and April 3rd, but Rayalaseema is expected to remain rainless.

While Kurnool recorded the highest temperature of 41.2 degrees Celsius on Thursday, Rayalaseema’s temperatures are expected to remain around 41-42 degrees Celsius on March 28th, with no alerts currently in place for the region. The majority of heatwave alerts are focused on North and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
