**Hyderabad, April 1, 2025** – Nithin and Sreeleela’s latest action-comedy, “Robin Hood,” directed by Venky Kudumula, hit theaters this Ugadi. While the film boasts a stylish presentation and strong comedic performances, its weak plot ultimately hinders its overall impact.
The film follows Ram (Nithin), an orphan who resorts to clever thievery to support himself and his fellow orphans. His life takes a turn when he’s implicated in a gold theft case involving IPS officer Victor Vargas (Shine Tom Chacko). Seeking a legitimate life, Ram joins John Sunnepnta’s (Rajendra Prasad) security agency, tasked with protecting Neera Vasudeva (Sreeleela), who has arrived from Australia. The film then unravels the mystery surrounding Neera and the international drug mafia targeting her.
While the first half features decent comedic moments, primarily thanks to the chemistry between Vennela Kishore and Rajendra Prasad, the originality is lacking. The storyline relies on a familiar commercial template, and Nithin’s character lacks freshness, despite the stylish execution. While the second half attempts to build suspense through twists and turns related to a drug mafia and medical license link, these plot devices fail to deliver compelling drama or genuine emotion. A surprise song featuring Aditi and a guest appearance by cricketer David Warner offer some additional appeal.
Nithin delivers a stylish performance, excelling in action sequences, dance, and acting. However, Sreeleela’s role, while visually appealing, is underdeveloped. Devadatta Naga’s villainous portrayal is initially captivating, but the character’s impact fades in the latter half. Shine Tom Chacko and Mime Gopi’s roles also start strongly but lose their momentum. Sai Sriram’s cinematography is commendable, and G.V. Prakash Kumar’s music is satisfactory. The film’s production quality is high.
Director Venky Kudumula displays his comedic prowess but falters in crafting a compelling narrative. While “Robin Hood” provides light entertainment and offers some laughs, viewers expecting a strong plot might be disappointed. The film ultimately serves as a decent time-passer, but its reliance on a familiar formula prevents it from becoming a memorable cinematic experience.
