**Kottayam, Kerala – March 28, 2025** – A chargesheet has been filed against five students of the Government College of Nursing in Kottayam for brutally ragging their juniors over several months. The chargesheet, submitted to the Ettumanoor Magistrate Court on Friday, details the horrific acts committed by Samuel Johnson (20), Rahul Raj (22), Jeev (18), Rijil Jith (20), and Vivek (21), who were arrested on February 12th.
The chargesheet, containing 32 documents and statements from 40 witnesses, alleges that the accused, who are also reportedly regular drug users, filmed the ragging incidents, celebrating as their victims suffered. Videos showing victims being tied to a cot, pierced with a compass, stripped, and subjected to other degrading acts, including having dumbbells placed on their genitals and facial cream forced into their mouths, served as crucial evidence. Further incriminating evidence was discovered on the accused students’ mobile phones.
The investigation revealed that the ragging, which involved extorting money from victims to buy alcohol, began in November 2024 and continued until February 2025 when disturbing videos surfaced on social media. The chargesheet states that neither the hostel nor college authorities were aware of the abuse.
All five accused students have been expelled from the college and are currently in district jail. They face charges under the Prohibition of Ragging Act.
