Fri Mar 28 13:05:41 UTC 2025: ## Kerala Government to Credit Earned Leave Surrender to Provident Fund
**THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, March 28, 2025** – The Kerala government announced that earned leave surrendered by its employees and teachers will be credited to their provident fund accounts starting April 1, 2025. However, a four-year lock-in period, extending until March 31, 2029, will be imposed before withdrawals are permitted.
The Finance Department order, issued on March 27, applies broadly across the state’s government sector, including employees in various departments, universities, local bodies, and public sector undertakings. The order specifically excludes last-grade servants, part-time and contingent employees, and certain personal staff.
This move affects a large swathe of Kerala’s workforce and represents a significant change in the management of employee leave and provident fund contributions.
