**Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh:** The body of a Public Works Department (PWD) assistant engineer, Vivek Kumar Soni, was recovered from the Indira Nagar canal in Lucknow on Thursday, two days after he was reported missing. Police confirmed the identification after Soni’s wife filed a missing person’s report on Tuesday. His motorcycle was discovered near the canal on Wednesday, prompting a search by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) which led to the discovery of his body. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the police will proceed with further investigation based on the findings. The Uttar Pradesh Congress has criticized the state’s law and order situation in light of the incident, citing the case as evidence of a lack of safety for citizens.
