Fri Mar 28 14:11:25 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Minister Defends Milk Price Hike, Celebrates Women’s Achievements at Maddur Event

**Maddur, Karnataka –** Karnataka’s Minister in charge of Mandya district, N. Cheluvarayaswamy, justified the recent milk price increase during International Women’s Day celebrations in Maddur on Friday. He stated that despite the ₹4 per litre hike, Karnataka still boasts the lowest milk prices compared to neighboring states. The Minister explained that the ₹1,500 crore annual subsidy for milk producers ensures that the entire price increase directly benefits them, a decision approved by the State Cabinet. He emphasized that Karnataka produces a significant daily volume of milk, ranging from 90 lakh to 1 crore liters.

The event, attended by MLC Dinesh Gooli Gowda and Maddur MLA Uday, also highlighted the significant contributions of women in the district. Mr. Gooli Gowda cited impressive statistics, noting that over half (2,016 out of 4,000) of the district’s gram panchayat members are women, with a substantial number serving as presidents and vice-presidents. He also mentioned the Parliament’s approval of a 33% reservation for women in government bodies.

MLA Uday praised the academic achievements of women, highlighting their success in competitive exams and their increasing presence in leadership positions across various sectors.

The event, which included participation from Zilla Panchayat CEO K.R. Nandini, served as a platform to celebrate women’s empowerment and underscore the state government’s commitment to their social, economic, and academic progress. The Minister urged parents to prioritize their daughters’ education, equipping them for a brighter future and encouraging their participation in politics and leadership roles.
