**Madurai, March 28, 2025** – Madurai City Police Commissioner J. Loganathan has suspended a police inspector for failing to act on an arrest warrant in a murder case. Inspector Balamurugan of Koodal Pudur police station was suspended for his inaction regarding Sullanpandi, an accused in the murder of P. Kaleeswaran. Kaleeswaran was a member of a gang associated with former Madurai Corporation zonal chairman V.K. Gurusamy.

Sullanpandi, who had been absconding for over three years and had several prior charges against him, recently surrendered at the Madurai district court. The suspension followed the revelation that an arrest warrant had already been issued for Sullanpandi, but no action was taken by the inspector. Sources also indicate that Balamurugan failed to report the arrest at a recent law and order meeting. Two special teams were formed to investigate Kaleeswaran’s murder following the filing of a case by Austinpatti police.
