**Chennai, India** – Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has approached the Madras High Court seeking transit anticipatory bail. The move follows the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against him in Mumbai for allegedly defaming Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde through a parody song.

The FIR, initially filed in Mumbai and later transferred to Khar police, cites sections related to public mischief and defamation under the Bharat Nyay Sanhita. The complaint was lodged by Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel. Following the performance, Shiv Sena workers vandalized the venue, resulting in the arrest and subsequent release on bail of 12 party members.

Kamra, a permanent resident of Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, was summoned by Mumbai police to appear on March 31st. His lawyer informed the court that Kamra, currently in Puducherry, is receiving death threats. The Madras High Court will hear the case after recess.
