**Chennai, March 28, 2025** – The Madras High Court today dismissed a petition challenging the consolidation of four supplementary chargesheets in the job racket case against Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister V. Senthilbalaji. The petition, filed by the Anti-Corruption Movement, argued that combining the chargesheets, which involve thousands of accused and witnesses across various alleged recruitment irregularities during Senthilbalaji’s tenure as Transport Minister, would cause an unreasonable delay in the trial, potentially stretching it to 1500 years.
The chargesheets detail alleged corrupt practices in the appointments of Assistant Engineers, Junior Tradesmen, bus conductors, and bus drivers in State Transport Corporations. The petitioner highlighted the sheer volume of accused (2256) and witnesses (over 668) if the chargesheets were combined.
However, Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan, after reviewing a counter-affidavit from the Government Advocate, dismissed the petition. The court did not elaborate on the reasons for its decision. The case will now proceed with all four supplementary chargesheets combined.
