**Mumbai, March 28, 2025** – The Hurun Global Rich List 2025 has placed India third globally with 284 billionaires, surpassing the UK, Germany, and Switzerland. Elon Musk reclaimed his title as the world’s richest person, with his net worth surging by 82% to $189 billion, driven largely by Tesla’s post-Trump election stock rise. Jeff Bezos holds the second spot.

In India, Mukesh Ambani remains the richest individual in Asia, despite slipping out of the global top 10, with a net worth of ₹8.6 lakh crore ($100 billion). Gautam Adani follows closely, experiencing a 13% increase in wealth. Roshni Nadar, HCL Technologies chairperson, made a significant debut, becoming the first Indian woman on the global rich list and the fifth richest woman worldwide after inheriting a substantial stake in HCL.

Despite concerns about wealth concentration, India exceeded China in average billionaire wealth. Mumbai, while adding 11 billionaires to reach a total of 90, lost its title as Asia’s billionaire capital to Shanghai. The list highlights a diverse representation of Indian billionaires across various sectors, with healthcare leading the way. 175 Indian billionaires saw their wealth increase, while 109 experienced a decline or stagnation.
