Fri Mar 28 14:30:00 UTC 2025: ## RCB Posts 197, CSK Stumbles in Chase During Tense IPL 2025 Clash

**Chennai, India –** In a thrilling encounter at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) set a challenging 197-run target for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match Number 8 of IPL 2025. RCB, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, posted a competitive total of 196/7, thanks largely to a fifty from Rajat Patidar (51 off 32). Phil Salt provided a blistering start with a 32-run cameo. However, CSK’s bowlers, led by Noor Ahmed (3 wickets), kept RCB in check. Matheesha Pathirana also picked up two crucial wickets.

CSK’s chase got off to a shaky start, losing three wickets in the powerplay. Josh Hazlewood claimed two early wickets, dismissing Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rahul Tripathi in the same over. Bhuvneshwar Kumar then added to CSK’s woes by removing Deepak Hooda. At the time of writing, CSK were struggling at 30/3, with Ravindra and Sam Curran at the crease.

The match marked the return of key bowlers Matheesha Pathirana for CSK and Bhuvneshwar Kumar for RCB after injury layoffs.

The rivalry between CSK and RCB is a long-standing one, with CSK holding a significant advantage in their head-to-head record (21 wins to RCB’s 11, with one no result). However, RCB have only beaten CSK once at the Chepauk stadium since 2008. This match is therefore crucial for both teams as they aim to build momentum in the tournament. Five-time champions CSK are chasing a record sixth title, while RCB are striving for their first IPL trophy.
