Fri Mar 28 14:15:55 UTC 2025: **Dharwad Zilla Panchayat CEO Demands Speedy Completion of Jal Jeevan Mission Water Project**
**Hubballi, March 28, 2025** – Bhuvanesh Patil, Chief Executive Officer of the Dharwad Zilla Panchayat, has issued a deadline of July for the completion of all works under the multi-village drinking water project implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Following an inspection of project sites on Tuesday, including the Saundatti Jackwell pipeline and water treatment plant, Patil expressed satisfaction with the progress but stressed the need for accelerated completion before the monsoon season.
The project, which aims to provide drinking water to 388 settlements, is showing significant progress. Ninety percent of the Jackwell is complete, with the remaining work targeted for April. The water treatment plant is 82% complete and scheduled for May completion. Out of a planned 1,654 km of pipeline, 930 km are already laid.
However, Patil emphasized the need to expedite several aspects of the project. He urged officials to secure the necessary forest clearances for 15 zonal balancing reservoirs and one main reservoir located in forest areas. While eight balancing reservoirs are complete and 15 are under construction, swift action on the clearances is crucial. Similarly, while 30 of the 136 planned high-level reservoirs are complete and 33 are underway, Patil instructed contractors to commission completed reservoirs immediately.
The CEO also highlighted the need to complete two interim booster pumping stations and stressed that all project works must be finalized by the end of July. The project’s significant progress underscores the commitment to providing clean drinking water across the region.
