Thu Mar 27 20:02:13 UTC 2025: ## Delhi’s BJP Government Unveils ₹1 Lakh Crore Budget, Accuses AAP of Mismanagement

**New Delhi, March 28, 2025** – Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today presented a ₹1 lakh crore budget, a significant increase from last year’s ₹76,000 crore outlay. Gupta attributed the increase to the government’s commitment to eliminating the misuse and misappropriation of public funds, directly criticizing the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s spending habits.

Gupta accused AAP of wasting public money on excessive advertising, celebratory events, and projects that existed only on paper. She cited examples such as ₹17 crore spent on publicity during the COVID-19 pandemic despite only 97 families receiving financial aid, ₹3 crore spent on Diwali celebrations, and ₹7 crore allocated to a non-existent sports university.

The Leader of the Opposition, Atishi, countered Gupta’s claims, accusing the BJP of exaggerating revenue estimates and failing to justify the 24% budget increase. Atishi questioned the budget’s projection given the lack of central funding for Delhi and expressed concern over reduced allocations for hospitals, schools, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. She demanded clarification on the budget’s source of funding.

The budget presentation notably omitted mention of the delayed economic survey and the BJP’s electoral promise of free gas cylinders for poor families. The exchange highlighted a sharp political divide between the ruling BJP and the opposition AAP over the use of public funds and the government’s financial projections.
